I think this is a side effect of disabling lanes to enable the eGPU. Any peripherals plugged into the Macbook directly also cause the system to crash. This must be plugged in pre-boot or the system will crash. Using a 3rd party link cable (Partylink) works perfectly when plugged into the right Thunderbolt 3 port not taken by the eGPU.

I've run into a few problems with Oculus Quest Link that I've been unable to resolve. I followed all the steps to get it to run in Bootcamp.

Pragmatically, would an upgrade to the Razer Core X Chroma (with more stable USB) be a sustainable fix? Or should it anyways work on one of the laptop ports (which should be stable) as well?ĭid anybody else already try it? What's your have the same Macbook pro 2016 with the Radeon 460 and I am running the Razer Core X Chroma with a Radeon VII. So now I'm wondering - when the official USB-C to USB-C 5-meter cable comes out, will it work when plugged directly to the Macbook? Or is a USB-A to USB-C cable needed and plugged into the eGPU enclosure? Maybe it's the adapter (used 3 different ones Headset is not found like like disconnected with any of them). This seems not to work, though, and I am wondering why. The Mantiz Venus USB connection is a bit flaky though, so I would prefer to connect the whole thing directly to the Macbook. So to sum it up - i got the recommended Anker cable ( ) and even added another usb 3.0 3-meter extension cable and Link works with it. =) But still only on the USB port(s) of the eGPU and not any of the Macbook USB 3 ports.

It boils down to the fact that Apple doesn’t prioritize high-end GPUs. While Mitchell didn’t necessarily blame the lack of macOS support on Apple, his fellow c0-founder very much did that last year: Mitchell’s comments regarding Oculus support for macOS comes not long after Tim Cook reiterated that Apple is committed to the pro market during the company’s shareholder meeting. HTC’s Vive VR headset currently lacks support for Mac, though there are some third-party roundabout methods. Support for VR headsets as a whole on macOS has been lackluster at best. “We will continue to revisit it, the real challenge for us is just how much we invest into that space because it does require a lot of our time and energy to get it right and to deliver a great experience.”
